Once you have Plex installed and running as a server, you need to configure Plex to tell it the type of media that you have. This guide will help with configuring Plex on where to look for different types of media like television programs, movies, music and more.
This section is divided into two parts. The first part will walk you through adding libraries to your Plex server. The second part will walk you through through the process of converting all of your media to add to Plex.
In order to take full advantage of all the Plex has to offer, it’s best to have a Plex Pass. A Plex Pass is $5/mo, $40/year and $120 for a lifetime of access. I recommend starting with the monthly pass and after a few months consider either the annual or lifetime pass. The lifetime pass will pay for itself after three years.
A Plex Pass will add images, show descriptions and tons of other features that will surpass any that a corded cable company can offer.
Once you have the pass, launch Plex by clicking on the icon. It will launch in a Web browser.
You can also first access it locally via http://localhost:32400/web or http://127.0.0.1:32400/web on the server’s computer.
