Choose the basic type of media this library represents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"512\" height=\"372\" src=\"http:\/\/lincon.com\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/mceclip1-28.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-546\" srcset=\"https:\/\/lincon.com\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/mceclip1-28.png 512w, https:\/\/lincon.com\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/mceclip1-28-300x218.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 512px) 100vw, 512px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Available choices:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Movies<\/li><li>TV Shows<\/li><li>Music<\/li><li>Photos<\/li><li>Other Videos<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Once you\u2019ve selected the library type, you\u2019ll be able to change the name and language.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"512\" height=\"371\" src=\"http:\/\/lincon.com\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/mceclip5-12-1.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-548\" srcset=\"https:\/\/lincon.com\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/mceclip5-12-1.png 512w, https:\/\/lincon.com\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/mceclip5-12-1-300x217.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 512px) 100vw, 512px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Name<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Enter the name you want for your library.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Language<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Each library has a language that controls the information gathered from the internet. If a library\u2019s language is set to French, for example, the French plot summary, etc., will be downloaded when available.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Add folders<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Select the folders where your content is located. Content in the folders must prepared like the examples linked on the Add folders tab. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you do not have any folders with media, you can create a folder that you will later put your media into.  A best practice would be to have a separate folder for each type.  You might even want to consider having a a separate external hard drive for each type.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/45eqks401uca3p9xje465puo-wpengine.netdna-ssl.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2013\/09\/mceclip6-11.png\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Use the&nbsp;Browse for Media Folders&nbsp;button to open a dialog where you can browse to the location or enter the path.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"400\" height=\"364\" src=\"http:\/\/lincon.com\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/addlibrary_addfolders_browse.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-549\" srcset=\"https:\/\/lincon.com\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/addlibrary_addfolders_browse.png 400w, https:\/\/lincon.com\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/addlibrary_addfolders_browse-300x273.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 400px) 100vw, 400px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You can specify one or more content locations. If you specify multiple locations, content will all be consolidated together for your library.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Do&nbsp;<strong>not<\/strong>&nbsp;use the root of your drive as a folder location. It will cause problems. Make an appropriate folder and put your media in that, such as&nbsp;<code>D:\/Movies<\/code>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Options<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This is a special step for music libraries. It lets you choose between creating a Premium music library or a basic one. The Premium option requires a Plex Pass subscription.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Advanced<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Most users won\u2019t need to alter the Advanced options, but they\u2019re available when necessary. The options available will vary depending on the type of library you selected.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"510\" height=\"370\" src=\"http:\/\/lincon.com\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/mceclip7-10.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-550\" srcset=\"https:\/\/lincon.com\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/mceclip7-10.png 510w, https:\/\/lincon.com\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/mceclip7-10-300x218.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 510px) 100vw, 510px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Common<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Many advanced options are common between library types.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Note<\/strong>: The Scanner and Agent settings are not available when using a Premium type music library.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\">SCANNER<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Choose the Scanner to use with your library. Scanners analyze the folder structure and filename of your content for information about that particular item. The default Scanner is automatically selected when you create the library but you can change it if necessary. To change the Scanner, click the dropdown and select the one you want to use.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\">AGENT<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Choose the Agent to use with your library. Agents take the information from the Plex Scanner, then search local media and internet sites for metadata about the media. The default Agent is automatically selected when you create the library but you can change it by clicking the dropdown and selecting the one you want.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\">INCLUDE IN DASHBOARD<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This setting determines whether:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>content from this library will be included in On Deck on the dashboard<\/li><li>content from this library will be included in Recently Added on the dashboard<\/li><li>artwork from the library will be included in global slideshows<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Movies<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\">ENABLE CINEMA TRAILERS<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Determine whether or not the Cinema Trailers feature will be available and active for this library.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Settings to control actual playback are available in the Plex apps themselves.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\">ENABLE VIDEO PREVIEW THUMBNAILS<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Choose whether or not video preview thumbnails will be generated for this particular library if the main setting is enabled for the Plex Media Server. If you wish to have video preview thumbnails for a particular library:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Enable the main setting under Settings &gt; Server &gt; Library<\/li><li>Enable this advanced per-Library setting<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Similarly, if you want video preview thumbnails generated in general but not in a particular library, then you can disable it for that specific library.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\">AGENT SETTINGS<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Settings related to the current Agent may also be exposed here.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Tip!<\/strong>: While these settings are exposed for the library, the selected values will take effect for all libraries using that agent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h6 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Localized titles<\/h6>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If a localized version of the movie title is available in the library\u2019s language, that will be used.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h6 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Find trailers and extras automatically (Plex Pass required)<\/h6>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When enabled, trailers and extras will automatically be retrieved for your movies when available. As the setting mentions, a Plex Pass is required.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h6 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Skip extras which aren\u2019t trailers<\/h6>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When enabled,&nbsp;extras that are not trailers will be skipped.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h6 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Use red band (restricted audiences) trailers when available<\/h6>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When a \u201c<a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Trailer_%28promotion%29#Rating_cards_for_theatrical_trailers_in_the_U.S.\">red band<\/a>\u201d trailer is available, use that when adding a trailer to your library. (Plex Pass required)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h6 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Include extras with subtitles in Library language<\/h6>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When available, include additional extras that have subtitles matching your library\u2019s language. (Most users will prefer to&nbsp;<em>not<\/em>&nbsp;have this enabled.)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Music<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\">IMPORT FROM ITUNES<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Enabling this option will attempt to import your music playlists from iTunes. It will also import your ratings, the date you added the music, as well as play and skip counts for tracks in your library.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This option requires that iTunes be installed in the default location on the computer running Plex Media Server.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\">USE EMBEDDED TAGS<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When scanning this library, base the content matching only off of the embedded metadata tags (e.g. ID3 tags for MP3 files.).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\">STORE TRACK PROGRESS<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The server will remember where you left off in a track. Playing that track in a supported app will then resume from where you left off.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\">AGENT SETTINGS<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Settings related to the current Agent may also be exposed here.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Tip!<\/strong>: While these settings are exposed for the library, the selected values will take effect for all libraries using that agent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h6 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Gracenote genre level<\/h6>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">With this, you can choose how genre information is gathered from Gracenote. The available options:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>None<\/li><li>Coarse (10 genres)<\/li><li>Medium (75 genres)<\/li><li>Fine (500 genres)<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">So, if you choose the \u201cMedium\u201d value, then the genres for your music will be pulled from a pool of 75 possible genres. Choosing \u201cNone\u201d means that no genre information will be pulled in from Gracenote. (Available when using the \u201cPlex Premium Music\u201d agent.)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h6 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Use genre tags from Last.fm<\/h6>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When this option is enabled, genre information from Last.fm will be used instead of embedded metadata. (Available when using the \u201cLast.fm\u201d agent.)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h6 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Download concert information<\/h6>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Upcoming concert information can be gathered from&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.last.fm\/\">Last.fm<\/a>. When available, it can be displayed on the artist\u2019s page.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h6 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Download popular track information<\/h6>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Gather data from&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.last.fm\/\">Last.fm<\/a>&nbsp;about which tracks for particular artists are most popular. When available, those popular tracks are displayed on the artist\u2019s page.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h6 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Download album reviews<\/h6>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When this option is enabled, album reviews from Gracenote will be gathered when available. (Available when using the \u201cPlex Premium Music\u201d agent.)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Adding your media to Plex<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Now that we&#8217;ve created the framework for Plex, it&#8217;s time to add your existing library of DVD&#8217;s, Music and home videos to Plex.
