LincOn.com was founded in 1993 as way to help people find information on the Internet in an easy and organized matter. It’s founder, David Broer, borrowed from graphical user interfaces to create a graphical portal where users could find sites at a time when text dominated the Web experience. The first incarnation was called Edison! and Edison illuminated the Internet with it’s Graphical user interface. The Edison.com domain was sold and LincOn.com was born.
Company Timeline
- 1993 – Company is founded
- 1994 – Company launches it’s first Website
- 1995 – Edison! is launched on edison.com. It’s a downloadable graphical interface to the Internet. Later, search utilities are added so users could search the content of thousands of Websites.
- 1997 – Edison! is promoted around the industry in magazines and newspapers. It now contains the larges collection of search utilities on the Internet and has over 30,000 users every day
- 1998 – The edison.com domain is sold to Southern California Edison and with it that Edison! is transformed into LincOn.com
- 1999 – LincOn.com adds new services like email, forums and other content
- 2003 – LincOn.com transitions away from linking to sites and to providing search results along with unique guides of information not found anywhere else.
- 2023 – LincOn.com celebrates 20 years of providing guides to unique information
- 2024 – LincOn.com celebrates 30 years of having a Web presence and being an early pioneer in the dot com era

LincOn.com prides itself on having 30+ years of a Web presence and proving information to millions of people over the years.
