Aleutian Wold War II NHA | ||
Synopsis: Located on Amaknak Island in the Aleutian Island Chain of Alaska, the fort was one of four coastal defense posts built to protect Dutch Harbor (the back door to the United States) during World War II, the fort is also highest coastal battery ever constructed in the United States. Stamp Location: Visitor information centers include the main center at the entrance to the park off SR 3 just south of Healy, the Eielson VC inside the park (and only accessible by shuttle bus), and the visitor infomation center at Byers Lake on SR 3. about 70 miles south of Healy. |

Stamp Location: Known locations: Coldfoot Interagency VC on the Dalton Hwy, 60 miles north of the Arctic Circle in Coldfoot and in Fairbanks at the park service office at 201 1st Ave. and the Public Lands Information Center at 250 Cushman Ave., the Anaktuvuk Pass Ranger Station (periodically unmanned) in Anaktuvuk Pass, accessible only by air and the Bettles Ranger Station/Visitor Center at the end of Ice Road off the Dalton 40 miles west of Prospect Creek. Synopsis: Majestic scenery of glaciers and their handiwork, snow capped mountains, deep fjords and freshwater lakes make up this ecological preserve. Stamp Location: The only visitor and contact station is at Glacier Bay Lodge 9.3 miles from Gustavus. Also, I’ve been told that rangers board cruise ships to give talks and bring the stamp with them. |

Katmai NP | ||

Synopsis: Katmai is famous for volcanoes, brown bears, fish, and rugged wilderness and is also the site of the Brooks River National Historic Landmark with North America’s highest concentration of prehistoric human dwellings (about 900). There is plenty room for great diversity of wildlife in Katmai which encompasses millions of acres of pristine wilderness, with wild rivers and streams, rugged coastlines, broad green glacial hewn valleys, active glaciers and volcanoes, and Naknek Lake. Stamp Location: The park has two visitor centers: the King Salmon VC (open year round) is located right next to the airport terminal in King Salmon and the Brooks Camp VC is located inside the park on Naknek Lake near the mouth of Brooks River, 30 air miles from King Salmon. |

Kenai Fjords NP | ||

Synopsis: The park is a pristine and rugged land supporting many unaltered natural environments and ecosystems including long fjords and a mountain range rising up one mile above the coast. Stamp Location: The park has two visitor contact stations accesible by road: The visitor center along SR 9 south of Seward, and the ranger station inside the park at the end of Exit Glacier Rd off SR 9 in Seward. There is also the Aialik Bay Ranger Station in Aialik Bay, but it is only accessible by boat. |

Klondike Gold Rush NHP – Skagway Unit | ||

Synopsis: The park celebrates the Klondike Gold Rush of 1897-98 through 15 restored buildings within the Skagway Historic District. The park also administers the Chilkoot Trail and a small portion of the White Pass Trail. Synopsis: At over 13 million acres, the park is the largest in the park system, and argest assemblage of glaciers and the greatest collection of peaks above 16,000 feet. Mount St. Elias, at 18,008′, is the second highest peak in the U.S. Stamp Location: Stamp is available at the District Ranger Station south of SR 1 on Nabesna Rd in Slana, the park headquarters and main visitor center on the old Richardson Hwy (mm 105.5) north of Cooper Center, at the District Ranger Station in Chitna and the information kiosk in Kennecott. There is also a seasonally open ranger station in at Yakutat south of the park, accessible only by air or boat. |
