Harpers Ferry NHP | ||

Synopsis: Several American themes are explored here, including slavery (and the many facets there of) and industry. The lower town portion has also been carefully re-constructed to reflect the early 1800s. The park covers three states and is the only park outside of Yellowstone that does that. Stamp Location: Stamp is located at the visitor center, just west of Harper’s Ferry on US 340. The stamp is also available in the lower town information center. During the summer months you have to take a shuttle into town as it gets very crowded and there is limited parking. |

Synopsis: Park protects a rugged, white water river, flowing northward through deep canyons, the New River is among the oldest rivers on the continent. Stamp Location: Stamp is available at the Canyon Rim VC just east of Fayetteville on US 19, the NR headquarters in Glen Jean off SR 16 (just off US 19), the Thurmond Depot VC (open seasonally) at the end of road from park headquarters, the Grand View VC (open seasonally)near the end of SR 9 and at the Sandstone VC just off I-64 near Sandstone. |

Synopsis: Throughout the 19th century, Wheeling served as the “Crossroads of America”, playing an important role in the settlement of the Nation. Transportation is a major theme.
