Sea Change – A drastic change in direction.  E.g. “The new plan represents a sea change.”

Self-actualization – Being able to do something by oneself.  E.g.  “Johnny is really good at self-actualization”

Scalable – Something that can be enlarged or enhanced without modification and work on a small or large basis.  E.g. “The new process needs to be scalable”

Scope – The planned for activity which may involve many items.  e.g.  “The new application is out of scope for this project.”

Scope Creep – The slow addition of items to a scope.   It’s usually a negative impact with concern that the scope could becoming untenably large.  E.g.  “I’m really concerned about scope creep with all the changes that we’ve been making”

Seamless (integration) – Two discreet items which are made one through integration.  E.g. “The payroll system has seamless integration with the human resource system”

Seed Money – The money needed to get a project started.  E.g. “We need to get some seed money to start getting the resources we need”

Session – A meeting.  E.g.  “In this session we’ll discuss how we can start getting some seed money”

Show Stopper – Something which will prevent a project from moving forward.  E.g. “This finding is a show stopper to the implementation”

Silo – Someone or thing all alone and not interacting with others.  E.g. “We can’t be working in silo’s any more”

Silver Bullet – A special solution to a problem.  E.g. “There is a no silver bullet to resolve this issue”

Sit-Stand Desk – A desk that be lifted to allow one to stand-up while working at their desk.

Six Sigma – An analysis of a problem or process and simplification of the problem or process.  E.g.  “We are going to take a six sigma approach on this process”

Skill Set – A group of skills needed for a particular task.  E.g. “We’re going to need someone with a particular skillset to complete this.”

South Of – Something with is below budget – as opposed to being above or “north of”.  E.g.  “The project came in south of $1 Million”  See also North of

Soup to Nuts – Everything included.  E.g.  “The project includes everything from soup to nuts!”

Spam – An unsolicited item.  E.g.  “This new finding is just spam”

Spearhead – The head of a project.  E.g.  “Who will spearhead this endeavor?”

Stage – For everyone to see or to line something up for a go-live.  E.g. “It’s time for this project to be put on stage” or “We need to stage the equipment for the go-live”

Staging – Preparing things for an implementation.  E.g.”We are staging resources in preparation for our implementation”

Stake Holder – Someone who is keenly interesting in something.  E.g.  “We need to keep the stake holders updated”

Startup – An initiative begun from the ground up.  E.g. “This company is a startup.”

Status Report – A written report to give an update to key stakeholders. E.g. “Make sure you complete a weekly status report”

Strategic – Very important.  E.g. “This project very strategic”.

Strategic Communication – Important information that needs to disseminated.  E.g. “I think this needs to be a strategic communication to the entire organization”

Streamline – To simplify something.  E.g. “We need to streamline this process”

Subject Matter Expert (SME) – Someone who has in-depth knowledge and/or experience with a particular matter.  E.g.  “Who is the SME for this particular aspect of the project?”

Suits – An executive.  More of a slang term. E.g.  “We want to make sure the suits are happy with the outcomes of this”

Survival Strategy – The plan to stay alive or current.  E.g.  “We should develop a survival strategy in case this does not work”

Sync Up – To communicate something out to the masses.  E.g. “Make sure you sync up with everyone on this”

Synergize – To gain synergy.  E.g.  “We need to synergize this team”

Synergy – to make something work together.  E.g. “This group has a lot of synergy!”
